The Grade Nine Orientation will be held on Thursday, August 31 from 10:30 am to noon. Students will meet in the gym at 10:30, experience activities with student council, tour their classes, and put their locks on lockers.

Parents and guardians can come to the auditorium at 10:30 to learn about all the amazing opportunities at Adam Scott CVI.

(Please keep in mind: with limited parking, families may want to walk if they live in walking distance or carpool).

We hope that you had a wonderful holiday with loved ones.

As we look towards the end of Semester 1, we are preparing for exams for Gr. 11 and 12 students, and culminating tasks for Gr. 9 and 10 students.

At Adam Scott CVI, we believe that formal exams and culminating tasks are an intrinsic part of the learning process and give students the opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and skills that they have gained.

Our exams & culminating tasks will now begin on Friday, Jan. 26 and end on Wed. Jan. 31, 2024. This is a slight date change from previous announcements. 

During Exam Time:

1. All students are to be in class no later than 8:35am so that they are ready when the bell goes to write their exam (or culminating task).
2. Thursday, Jan. 25 is a regular full day of school with a regular schedule.
3. Library and Resource areas are closed during Exam Time (students who require accommodations are using these spaces to write exams and culminating tasks).
4. The cafeteria food service is closed from January 26 until Monday, Feb. 5.  
5. School buses run during exams on their ‘normal’ schedule.
6. Parents are encouraged to pick up their students as soon as their exams / culminating tasks are done (any time from 10:00 am on).

To prepare for Exams and Culminating Tasks, encourage your child to:

1. speak with their classroom teacher about any questions they have
2. participate in exam review & study tips with their classroom teacher
3. attend Homework Club on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday after school in the Library from 3:00-4:15 from now until January 24

If you have any questions about your child’s exam or culminating task, please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher.

If there is a ‘snow day / busses cancelled’ day during Exams, the schedule moves one day forward. For example, if buses are cancelled on Monday, Jan. 29, then the Period 2 exams/culminating tasks will happen on Tuesday, Jan. 30 and the Period 3 exams/culminating tasks will happen on Wednesday, Jan. 31 and Period 4 exams/culminating tasks will happen on Thurs. Feb. 1.

Reminder, Friday February 2nd is a PD Day and the first day of Semester 2 is Monday, February 5, 2024.
